I have over 20 years of combined experience being a board member and I know I can be an effective member of the Hastings School Board. I have volunteered and worked on:

*City of Crystal Environmental Quality Planning Commission (Member and Chair),

*City of Hastings Planning Commission (Member and Chair),

*Hastings Chapter of AAUW (Board/Newsletter),

*Hastings Cub Scout Pack 444 (Board/Treasurer),

*MOMs Club of Hastings (Board/Treasurer), and I currently hold a

*HFC United Soccer Club (Board/Treasurer).

I am thankful for and committed to the Hastings School District. I believe my varied experiences will allow me to be an open-minded board member.

My name is Pam Onnen, I have been a Hastings resident for over 30 years. I am a Mechanical Engineer and worked at the Flint Hills (Koch) refinery for 7 years before my husband and I got the best promotion of all – Parenthood!

As a wife, mom, and active person in the community, I have been a school volunteer since 2002. I completed my Master’s Degree (Teaching) at Bethel and I have been a classroom substitute in this district ever since our youngest child started first grade.

My experiences have allowed me to see School District #200 and our community from many different points of view. As a parent I have seen our children grow in the Special Education, general education, and honors programs. As a substitute teacher, I have spent time with school children in all grades from elementary through high school.

Academic Growth <—Communication—> Learner-ready Classrooms

  • Academic Growth

It all begins with the teacher-student-family relationship. We want each student and their family to be able to celebrate student growth.

  • <--- Communication --->

Continue to provide channels of communication in each direction:

    Teachers ——> Student and Family

Student —- > Family and Teacher

  • Grow it.

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Academic growth in every student

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

We want every classroom to be calm and learner-ready.

Every child deserves a calm classroom where they know they belong, where they are welcomed, and where they learn to welcome others in their school. Every student is different in some way, and most importantly, every student belongs. Every student has a future.

Communication ties it all together.
